This was my poetry site for a year or more ago..I recently started thinking of it again, and I'm going to start posting old poetry (I'll note it as old) and new poetry. Read and comment as desired!
-Lonely Warrior-
Hear me roar as I rush into battle,
see me swing my rusty sword.
Taste my tears as I walk forgotten battlegrounds,
see my sorrow.
Feel my heartache at the death,
see it shatter at the memories of battle.
Smell the sweat and blood,
see the carnage after the battle.
Hear my soft warrior song,
singing quietly of death and destruction,
pain and fears unleashed,
the immense loneliness of a warrior.
What friends I had are long gone,
either by deserting me,
or by Death's ever-loyal kiss.
My time is coming up soon,
and I will leave this war forever.
Until then, I will this battle,
friendless,
a lonely warrior.
Afraid to let others join my battles,
afraid they'll get killed too.
I protect them with my life,
so they can live what I haven't.
Too many scars cover my body,
reminders of my close calls.
Rips and bruises clothe my heart,
too many painful soul breaks.
Death hovers by my side,
my only constant companion.
Can you see the echo of war in my eyes?
Can you see the flames of death?
I'm a weary soldier,
rushing from one place to the next.
I want and need a companion,
but I'm afraid they'll get hurt too.
Battles uncounted I've been in,
battles uncounted I'll be in.
Watch from your hill safely,
look for the Warrior in rusted armour.
Watch for the banner of Death,
and see the standard thats been burned.
Hear the Warrior's tired war cry,
see that Lonely Warrior stumble and fall.
Never to move again.
